VR Classrooms and Learning Experiences for any browser, any device
When a district is not considered 1:1 and individuals may have different types of devices in order to complete their work and participate in class, Mozilla Hubs can be used to conduct live class sessions and or can also be made into learning experiences to teach a topic or skill. EducatorsinVR.com used Mozilla Hubs along with AltSpaceVR and EngageVR to conduct fully virtual VR conferences in February and May. Although AltSpaceVR and EngageVR are slightly more robust and can be used for social VR (including mindfulness training with EvolVR), they need a Windows 10 device (Mac apps coming soon) and cannot be used on a Chromebook at this time while Mozilla Hubs can be used on any browser on any device including smartphone or Chromebook.
Another option for video conferencing that can be used on any device is the Spatial app which is free during the pandemic. This app provides ways using AR and VR to create a more typical working environment by having individuals as avatars or video feeds stay in a virtual room so you can turn to the other individuals and converse as you would in person. This helps to create a sense of being there to meetings and/or classes. Rumii can be used similarly as the Spatial app but is geared for education.
